IPL 2025: Afghanistan’s 18-year-old spinner, Allah Ghazanfar, was bought for Rs 4.8 crore in the last held IPL 2025 Mega Auction. His base price was just Rs 75 lakh, but Mumbai Indians aggressive bid reflected their faith in his skills and potential.
Speaking more about him ahead of IPL 2025, Allah Ghazanfar became the fourth youngest full-member bowler to take a five-wicket haul in ODI cricket. His 6/26 against Zimbabwe were the second-best figures by a spinner in Sharjah, with Muttiah Muralitharan’s 7/30 against India in 2000 still topping the list.
But even before that series, the 18-year-old picked six wickets in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024 T20, including combined figures of 4/28 against India and Sri Lanka in the knockouts.
Interestingly, Ghazanfar started his career as a fast bowler before transitioning into a spinner under the guidance of former Afghan captain Dawlat Ahmadzai. The change has been a game-changer for him, evident from his performances in the 2024 U-19 World Cup, where he picked up eight wickets in four matches.
