Entering into the IPL Auction 2025, PBKS made their intentions clear, that they wanted to start the IPL 2025 with a clean slate. Hence, they had only retained two players — Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh. Come the IPL Auction, they bagged IPL-winning skipper Shreyas Iyer for a massive 26.75 Cr, to go with a few other important purchases.
PBKS Assemble Decent Squad for IPL 2025
Then there was a certain Arshdeep Singh, who despite not getting retained, returned to the squad with a price tag of 18 Cr. Yuzvendra Chahal came to PBKS for 18 Cr as well. The team was lucky to bag Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell and Marco Jansen too. Undoubtedly, these players make the playing XI, but one upcoming Indian star, that might be the game-changer for PBKS, might have just slipped under the radar, among these big names.
We are talking about 21-year-old Mumbai all-rounder Suryansh Shedge, who is making it count for his team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Playing in his first season, the fast-bowling all-rounder has scored runs at an average of 29, and picked up 5 wickets as well. Shedge’s last two matches have been quite memorable, where he scored 30 vs Andhra, and then followed it up with 36 and two wickets vs Vidarbha.
Suryansh Shedge for PBKS
To top it all, he has for company, his PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer in the team as well, who would be closely looking at the performances. Look, Punjab playing XI for IPL 2025 looks more or less settled, but Suryansh Shedge could just come in at No. 6 position, after Marcus Stoinis, or maybe Jansen, who can tonk the ball a long way, and can also pick up wickets. Even though inexperienced, he has shown that he can deliver with both, bat and ball.
In fact, his T20 strike rate of 247 also suggests that he could also be a decent bet to open the innings along with Prabhsimran Singh. Having said that, whether he gets a chance is a topic for later, but is certainly a bright prospect for sure.
