IPL 2025 Scenarios: Will Royal Challengers Bengaluru take RTM gamble for Mohammed Siraj?

IPL 2025 Scenarios: Will Royal Challengers Bengaluru take RTM gamble for Mohammed Siraj?

RCB didn't retain ace pacer Mohammed Siraj in the IPL 2025 Retention.

One of the major shocks of the IPL 2025 Retention Day was Mohammed Siraj not being retained by Royal Challengers Bengaluru. RCB went on to retain 3 players on the Retention Day and have a huge purse of 83 Crores. And with just one pacer in the team, i.e. Yash Dayal, the question arises, will RCB take a major RTM gamble for Mohammed Siraj?

Virat Kohli was the major retention for RCB for a whopping price of 21 crores. Rajat Patidar (11 crores) and Yash Dayal (5 crores) was retained by the Bengaluru outfits. And with Mohammed Siraj now available in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, it remains to be seen if RCB offers the RTM for their ace speedster.

Big dilemma for RCB regarding Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj haven’t been at his best form over the last couple of years. Be it Tests or T20Is Siraj has been slacking. The only format where he remains decent is the ODIs. But with RCB keen to break their trophyless jinx, it remains to be seen if the team can bank on Siraj again.

With all being said, Mohammed Siraj still remains a top bowler in the Indian Cricket circuit. And with the ace pacer available in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, teams will jump to sign the star pacer.

And this is where RCB can play out a huge gamble. RCB has a remaining purse of 83 Crore. Furthermore the team has 3 RTMs left in the auction. Out of the 3 RTMs, the team can use 3 of them on capped players. And it will be interesting to see if RCB bids for him.

Siraj returning to RCB too makes sense. Siraj knows what is needed form him and knows how to perform at the M Chinnasamy stadium. If RCB by any chance can get Siraj for a price less than 10 Crore then it will be a win-win situation for both parties.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Retention List

Number of RTM left – 3 (1 uncapped + 2 capped players, or 3 capped)

Virat Kohli – (21 Cr)
Rajat Patidar – (11 Cr)
Yash Dayal – (5 Cr)

Total Spent – 37 Crore

Purse Remaining – 83 Crore
