There is still a sizeable amount of time still left for the IPL 2025 to begin. But despite spending a fortune at the IPL 2025 Auction, and bagging Rishabh Pant for a massive 27 Cr, LSG are not very well placed. Look, batting, as per the current squad is their stronger suit, but then it seems like the Sanjiv Goenka-team has completely neglected the bowling department.
Rishabh Pant Won’t Solve LSG’s Bowling Woes
They have a few bowlers who are injury prone, and then just one all-rounder in Mitchell Marsh, who tends to not bowl much. Let’s dissect LSGs bowling unit, one-by-one. Starting with leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, he played 14 matches last year and picked up 10 wickets at 8.77. Then Mayank Yadav was excellent in the four matches he played, but then got injured after that.
In fact, after debuting for India, he again had a niggle and was sidelined again. Similar is the story with pacer Mohsin Khan, who played 10 matches, and picked as many wickets — plus he’s injury prone too. Coming to a decent buy, Shamar Joseph, he cannot be touted as a T20 bowler and struggled in the only IPL match he played last year — leaking 47 runs.
Mayank Yadav Not Enough for IPL 2025
Another injury-stricken name is that of Rajvardhan Hangargekar, who has only played 2 IPL matches so far in his caree, that started in 2023 with CSK. He’s no wicket-taker as in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy this year, he has picked up six wickets in eight matches. That’s pretty much it. In a nutshell, not only their bowlers are susceptible to picking up injuries, but also don’t have much experience too.
Avesh Khan would likely lead the bowling pack, who has 74 wickets in 63 IPL matches, but LSG is certainly short on quality bowling resources. An untimely injury to a player, or even poor form, won’t leave them much choice to make changes.
