Five-time champions Chennai Super Kings have been accused of ball tampering, sparking a major controversy. During the CSK vs MI IPL 2025 match, a viral video on social media allegedly shows Khaleel Ahmed and Ruturaj Gaikwad tampering with the ball.

But is the video genuine? Well, currently, there is no confirmation or concrete evidence supporting these claims. All that has surfaced so far are fan allegations accusing CSK of ball tampering.

So, what really happened, and why is the viral clip gaining so much attention?

Ball tampering controversy in IPL 2025?

In the viral video, a moment caught viewers’ attention during the match when Khaleel Ahmed was bowling. At that time, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad approached him, and Khaleel took something out of his pocket. The camera angle made it unclear what exactly he was holding. However, upon closer examination, it appeared that he was simply taking out the ball.

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s reaction in the video has further fueled speculation. After the match, the video went viral on social media, with fans speculating and commenting on the incident. At first glance, it might seem like ball tampering, but upon careful observation, nothing has been confirmed yet. Therefore, it would be wrong to jump to conclusions, as the validity of the claims remains questionable.

Chennai Super Kings kick off IPL 2025 with a win against Mumbai

Apart from all the allegations and speculation, if we remove all distractions and focus on the recent game, CSK thumped MI by 4 wickets. Thanks to half-centuries from Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad, Chennai Super Kings began their campaign with a victory.

The match took place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Mumbai, after losing the toss, batted first and posted 155 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. In response, CSK chased down the target, scoring 158 runs for six wickets in 19.1 overs, securing the win. Although there was a tricky phase where MI almost made a comeback, Rachin Ravindra’s patient batting pushed CSK past the finish line.
