Rajasthan Royals (RR) have lost their second consecutive match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, as the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated them by 8 wickets at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Having lost the toss and sent in to bat first, RR put 151 on the board. The total wasn’t enough as KKR chased it down in 17.3 overs with 8 wickets in hand.
RR Player Rating vs KKR
Sanju Samson, 3/10: Things aren’t going the wicketkeeper batter’s way. An injury to start with and now a form slump as well. Samson did score a half-century in the last match but was nowhere near his best. The same happened today, but this time, he scored just 13 (11).
Riyan Parag, 7.5/10: A quickfire 25 (15) and just 25 runs from his 4 overs. Parag, the captain, played like a proper all-rounder. The only issue was one expected better from him with the bat. He has promoted himself to number three and might want to pace his innings on wickets like this one in Guwahati. However, Parag’s captaincy was in question as he didn’t bowl Sandeep Sharma enough.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, 5/10: Like Samson, Jaiswal hasn’t been at his best either so far in the tournament. He started really well but slowed once the spinners came on after the powerplay. Ultimately, he was outdone by Moeen Ali. Considering RR scored just 151, 29 (24) isn’t that bad.
Dhruv Jurel, 8/10: The wicketkeeper has been RR’s best batter so far. The score was 76/4 when he came on. And wickets kept tumbling from the other end. Not only did Jurel top score, 33 (28), but he was also the reason RR even crossed 150.
Jofra Archer, 0/10: The pacer who went for 76 runs in the last match, was taken for 33 runs in 2.3 overs. Started with a 2-run over, then 13 runs and in his last 3 balls went for 18 runs.
Sandeep Sharma, 8.5/10: Was given the ball twice and although he didn’t take a wicket, he gave away just 11 runs.
Shimron Hetmyer, 2/10: The ball wasn’t coming on to the bat, and Hetmyer was struggling. He was even dropped by Venkatesh Iyer, and then that ball went to the boundary. Despite this, the finisher scored just 7 (8).
Shubham Dubey, 2/10: The lower-order batter played 5 dots of the 12 balls he faced. Dubey hit a four on the penultimate delivery he faced and ended with 9 (12). Things might have been even worse for him.
Nitish Rana, 3/10: Seen as the best batter of spin in RR, Rana struggled to get going against Moeen and Varun Chakarvarthy. Was clean bowled by the Englishman in the 11th over, scoring 8 (9). Was asked to bowl the 15th over and gave away 9 runs.
Wanindu Hasaranga, 3/10: Scored 4 (4) after being sent to bat at number five and then leaked 34 runs in 3 overs. He did get one wicket but KKR’s leggie, Chakaravarthy got 2 wickets in 4 overs and went for just 17 runs.
Maheesh Theekshana, 3/10: KKR’s offie Moeen took 2 wickets for 23 runs. Theekshana went for 32 runs and got no wickets.
Tushar Despande, 7/10: Was asked to bowl in the 16th over and gave away just 7 runs.
