IPL 2025: Rohit Sharma to join Punjab Kings? PBKS head drops silent hint

PBKS head Sanjay Bangar dropped a subtle hint about the franchise trying to acquire Rohit Sharma for IPL 2025.

IPL 2025: There are major doubts over whether the former Mumbai Indians skipper, Rohit Sharma will stay at MI after being stripped of captaincy ahead of the 2024 season in favor of Hardik Pandya.

Rohit is not just one of the greatest Indian cricketers to ever play the game but also the joint-most successful captain in IPL history alongside MS Dhoni. Rohit led MI to each of their five IPL titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.

It is no secret that if Rohit is not retained by MI and enters the mega auction, he will be among the most sought-after players. With many teams looking for a captain in the mega auction, there will be no shortage of suitors for him. One team that has been linked with Rohit is the Punjab Kings (PBKS), who will need a new captain following the retirement of Shikhar Dhawan.

Will Rohit Sharma join PBKS for IPL 2025?

PBKS head of cricket development, Sanjay Bangar, refused to rule out the possibility of the franchise trying to sign but warned that Rohit Sharma will fetch a high price in the IPL 2025 auction. “It all depends on whether we have the money in our pockets. If Rohit comes in the auction, I certainly believe, he is going to go for a high price,” said Bangar in an interaction on the RAO Podcast Youtube channel.

Speaking about Rohit Sharma’s numbers in the IPL, Rohit has played in all 17 seasons of the league, with 6628 runs to his name and an average of 29.72 in 257 matches. He has scored two centuries with the bat and also taken 15 wickets, including a hat-trick.
