IPL 2025 participation up in air for Jasprit Bumrah as MI pacer back at NCA again

IPL 2025 participation up in air for Jasprit Bumrah as MI pacer back at NCA again

Mumbai Indians will be without Jasprit Bumrah (injured) and Hardik Pandya (banned) for their IPL 2025 opener against CSK.

Jasprit Bumrah’s availability for IPL 2025 remains up in the air as the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) pace spearhead has returned to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for another round of assessment. This is his second visit in recent weeks, as he continues his rehabilitation following discomfort during his previous bowling session.

According to Cricbuzz, Bumrah reportedly experienced pain while bowling during his earlier visit. Now, the NCA officials recommend a tailored exercise routine before reassessing him. With the IPL fast approaching, his latest trip to what is now called the Centre of Excellence will determine whether he receives full or partial clearance to participate in the IPL 2025.

When will Jasprit Bumrah return for MI?

While there is renewed optimism surrounding Bumrah’s progress, the report suggests that a return in Mumbai Indians’ opening games is unlikely. Basically, he won’t be back in March. The Mumbai franchise is scheduled to play three games in March. Even if he receives the green light, he may need at least another week before he is match-fit.

Speaking about the pacer’s recovery, MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene expressed cautious optimism. “He just started that progress. At the moment, everything is going well, but obviously, it’s a day-to-day evaluation,” Jayawardene said. “He is in good spirits, and hopefully, he can join the team soon.”
