The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) franchise might have found their coaching staff’s missing piece in former Indian batsman VVS Laxman. According to reports, the LSG management has expressed interest in roping Laxman in for the upcoming IPL 2025 season.
VVS Laxman nearing NCA exit?
This development comes amidst speculation that VVS Laxman might not extend his tenure as the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
His current term is set to end in September 2024. Notably, Laxman was initially offered the Team India head coach position after Rahul Dravid stepped down, but he declined due to his aversion to extensive travel with the national team.
Informal talks between LSG and VVS Laxman
While nothing is confirmed yet, the LSG management has held informal discussions with VVS Laxman to gauge his interest as per TOI. Sources suggest that Laxman himself might be ready to move on from the NCA, particularly due to the relocation required for the role. This has opened him up to offers from various IPL franchises.
Potential successor at NCA: Vikram Rathour
With VVS Laxman’s potential departure from the NCA, former India batting coach Vikram Rathour emerges as a possible candidate to take over the reins. Rathour has been a part of the BCCI ecosystem since 2012, serving as a national selector before transitioning to the role of Team India’s batting coach.
