A few matches back, MI batter Tilak Varma was retired out by the skipper Hardik Pandya, against RCB.. the team lost the match, and there were several questions raised over the decision. Since then, Tilak has responded two back-to-back fifties in the IPL 2025. Now, the southpaw has opened up on the issue, that has become a bit of a controversy.
Remember, Tilak Varma was Retired Out?
“Nothing. I was just thinking that they made the decision for the team’s purpose. So, I took it in a positive way and didn’t take it in a negative way. But the main thing is how you take it. It’s more important,” Tilak said on Star Sports after Mumbai Indians’ win over Delhi Capitals.
“So I was thinking it that way. I just want to be comfortable wherever I bat. So I told the coach and staff, ‘Don’t worry wherever you play me, I’m comfortable, and I’ll give my best,’ he added. Meanwhile, Sunday’s victory was MI’s only second in six matches in IPL 2025, and skipper Hardik Pandya couldn’t be more relieved.
Hardik Pandya Move Pays Off
“Winning is always special. Especially in games like this. You have to keep fighting and it means a lot,” said Pandya at the post-match presentation. What was great to see is, their ploy of getting Karn Sharma as the impact sub worked wonders for the team, as he claimed three crucial wickets.
“(Karn was) Fantastic. Coming in and bowling the way he bowled, showed a lot of heart, especially at a small ground like that.” As far as the IPL 2025 points table is concerned, MI has won two matches, and are on seventh position in the points table.
