Not long ago, news broke that LSG’s star pacer Avesh Khan, who had been out of action since January due to a right knee issue, was undergoing rehab at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and has received medical clearance to join the LSG camp. Well, now he looks set for the IPL game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. LSG themselves posted on social media, where Avesh Khan was seen bowling in the nets, looking completely fine, strongly hinting that the pacer will be available for selection for the upcoming match.
Injury concerns all over in LSG camp
We need to understand why Avesh Khan’s return is a boon for LSG, primarily due to the current bowling crisis in the LSG camp. Quality pacers like Mohsin Khan, Mayank Yadav, and Akash Deep are all dealing with injuries, leaving the team with limited options to strengthen their bowling lineup. Although they have secured some replacements, with Shardul Thakur now in the camp, the situation remains challenging. In this scenario, Avesh Khan’s comeback is great news for Rishabh Pant and company. However, it will be interesting to see how this pacer performs against Sunrisers Hyderabad, whose batters are currently thriving and looking solid, just as they were in IPL 2024.
