Just like Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders are also one of the fan favourites in the IPL. And why not? Known for their man-management and giving chances to youngsters who can perform well for them, they have been doing this for many years. As a result, they have earned three IPL trophies and plenty of playoff experience, making them one of the most popular teams in the IPL.
Last season, we saw how they acquired a bunch of impressive players, came out on top, and won the IPL 2024 by dethroning Sunrisers Hyderabad, who were initially the favourites to win that season. Thanks to their captain Shreyas Iyer, although he is no longer with them, if we look back, there have been many big names who captained this team and delivered the right results.
The first and foremost name that comes to everyone’s mind is the current India head coach Gautam Gambhir, who led the team to two IPL trophies in 2012 and 2014. Apart from him, there have been many other big names who captained the team and mostly gave positive results. Take a look at all the KKR captains and their records in the IPL.

Who will be KKR captain in IPL 2025?
Many contenders, but no confirmed name yet. After Iyer got released, everyone knew this would be a big issue for KKR. Although they have managed to acquire some captaincy-material players like Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer, apart from them, even Rinku Singh, who was retained before the IPL 2024 mega auction, is in contention to lead KKR in IPL 2025.
