KL Rahul has joined the Delhi Capitals (DC). The wicketkeeper batter, who decided to train in Mumbai with the India cricket team assistant coach Abhishek Nayar instead of joining the team in Vishakhapatnam, has finally joined his new Indian Premier League (IPL) team.
KL Rahul arrives in Vishakhapatnam
Rahul, who had reportedly declined to lead DC, will start his new IPL journey against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) March 24 at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. After the wicketkeeper decided he didn’t want any leadership role, Axar Patel was named DC’s captain and Faf du Plessis, his deputy.
Rahul, along with his wife Athiya Shetty, are set to welcome their first child during the IPL 2025. That’s why the former LSG captain is expected to miss a couple of matches for DC. This might be the reason why Rahul may have decided to leave the opportunity to be the face of the franchise. But given his experience, Rahul will surely be a leader in the team.
