Jasprit Bumrah will return for the Mumbai Indians (MI) and in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise had confirmed that the pacer was fit for selection, and he’ll play his first match in four months against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium.
Rohit Sharma back
MI captain Hardik Pandya confirmed Bumrah’s return after winning the toss and also informed that Rohit Sharma, who missed the last match against the Kolkata Knight Riders due to a knee niggle, returns to the team as well.
“We are going to bowl first. This looks like a good track and dew might come in later. When dew comes, the wicket gets better. It always plays well for both teams. Time to get some good cricket behind us and do the right things. Mumbai has always been supporting us. Playing at home makes it different. The crowd is behind you, and you are aware of the conditions. Jassie (Bumrah) is back, and so is Ro (Rohit),” Hardik said at the toss.

Bumrah’s return to T20 cricket
All eyes will be on Bumrah, who was the best bowler in the IPL 2024. In a season where the average economy for bowlers was around 9, Bumrah gave away just 6.48 runs per over and claimed 20 wickets in 13 matches. No one really came close to him. He’d subsequently helped Team India win the T20 World Cup 2024 as well.
But the pacer hasn’t played a match since. It’s been 9 nine months since Bumrah has played a 20-over game. And he’s coming off a back injury as well. Although, as per the Centre of Excellence, he’s fully fit; one can’t be truly sure until he plays a match.
