IPL 2025: ‘Face of Indian Cricket’ Rishabh Pant main target for Lucknow Super Giants

Though Rishabh Pant has not been retained, DC owners have hinted of a possible comeback via RTM

It was treat for all the franchise teams in IPL then they realized that Rishabh Pant was not retained by Delhi Capitals for IPL 2025. This means the destructive southpaw will be available in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. While all teams will be eager to fight for the star, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have made Pant their number 1 target for the auction.

LSG let go of their captain KL Rahul while Nicholas Pooran was retained for a staggering price of 21 Crores. And this creates an opportunity for Rishabh Pant to join the Lucknow outfits, quite possibly becoming their captain from IPL 2025 onwards.

New home for Rishabh Pant – Can it be Lucknow?

An insider of the club revealed to InsideSport that the team would be willing to go for the star player. LSG believes that after the veterans, i.e. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant is the face of Indian Cricket. And when the team got to know that Pant would be available in the auction, there was no chance of the side to retain KL Rahul in the team.

Pundits claim that all the teams will be waging a bidding war for Rishabh Pant in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. While teams like KKR or MI or ever RR will be a bit reserved given their purse left, but other will be going all out for southpaw.

Reports claim that Pant’s bid can range anywhere from 25-30 Crores when the auction takes place next month. As things stand, LSG are yet to decide on who will be their new captain from the next season. Heading on to the Auction, the side has gone on to retain 5 key players – Nicholas Pooran, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Ayush Badoni and Mohsin Khan.
