IPL 2025 Auction Rumour: DC & LSG willing to buy Rohit Sharma for INR 50 crore

IPL 2025 Auction Rumour: DC & LSG willing to buy Rohit Sharma for INR 50 crore

Rohit Sharma has been with the Mumbai Indians since the 2011 edition and is paid INR 16 crore by the franchise.

The IPL 2025 mega auction has already started to pick up steam. Rohit Sharma, who was removed as Mumbai Indians (MI) captain last year, could take home around INR 50 crore at the auction, which will be held at the end of the year, according to reports. Many have claimed that Rohit isn’t happy with MI and feels he was wronged by the franchise that he helped win 5 IPL titles.

Big bucks calling Rohit Sharma

Reports had previously claimed that the Punjab Kings’ wanted Rohit Sharma as their captain, but owner Preity Zinta refused any such commitment at that time. Delhi Capitals (DC) had approached Rohit as well after he stepped down as captain, but a trade wasn’t made. Now, we’re hearing that DC and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are willing to go as far as spending INR 50 crore on the current Indian ODI and Test captain.

According to RevSportz journalist Rohit Juglan, DC and LSG are waiting for Rohit Sharma’s assurance that he’ll come to the auction table or not. Both franchises, which haven’t won an IPL title yet, are willing to spend half of their purse on the most successful IPL captain.

Rishabh Pant & KL Rahul to be sacked?

If DC and LSG are indeed willing to do so, what’ll happen to Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul? The DC management was supposedly unhappy with Pant, but Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly has reportedly claimed that he’ll play for the franchise in the IPL 2025. Rahul, who was publicly chided by LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka, may leave the franchise on his own following his humiliation. It could actually make sense that both franchises bid big for Rohit Sharma, and Mitchell Starc’s INR 24.75 crore record purchase may be surpassed at the IPL 2025 mega auction.
