It’s all happening now as teams are fine-tuning their squads by acquiring players in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Before the auction, teams were allowed a maximum of six retentions. However, not all teams opted for all six, with some going for five or even three. Surprisingly, Punjab Kings retained only two players.
Teams could retain up to six players before the mega auction, and now they are looking to fill the remaining spots using their Right to Match cards and the money left in their purses. Initially, each team was allotted Rs. 120 crore, but things have now changed. Punjab Kings initially have the biggest purse at the auction, having retained just two uncapped players, giving them Rs. 110.5 crore to spend. Royal Challengers Bangalore also have the second-highest purse, with Rs. 83 crore, despite paying Virat Kohli Rs. 21 crore. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals (RR) have only Rs. 41 crore.
But now with set 16 completed, many changes have occurred, as teams like PBKS are spending a lot of money and securing big players at high amounts. Let’s see what’s happening now with the teams as how much money left with them and RTM cards remaining in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
