IPL 2025 Auction highlights: 182 players sold, Rs 639.15 cr spent in two days

IPL 2025 auction: The two-day IPL 2025 auction has come to an end with 182 players being sold and Rs 639.15 cr spent by the teams overall. The auction also saw 62 overseas players being sold. Overall, 395 players remained unsold in the IPL mega auction.

Three players saw the teams break their bank to buy them at the IPL 2025 auction. Rishabh Pant is the highest-paid cricketer in IPL history after LSG spent Rs 27 cr to rope in the keeper-batter. Former KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer found a new home as PBKS spent Rs 26.75 cr to buy the star, who briefly held the record for being the richest player in IPL before Pant replaced him. KKR went all guns blazing to ensure that Venkatesh Iyer return to their side, spending Rs 23.75 cr.

10 cr no problem as teams don’t shy from shelling out money

17 players were purchased by franchises for a price over Rs 10 cr, with most of the stars on the list getting a huge boost in their salary. Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal were bought by PBKS – the franchise that entered the auction with the highest purse – for Rs 18 cr. GT broke their bank to rope in Jos Buttler for Rs 15.75. Meanwhile, KL Rahul – who was expected to fetch over Rs 20 cr – managed to get only Rs 14 cr from DC.

Overseas bowlers Trent Boult, Jofra Archer and Josh Hazlewood were bought for Rs 12.50 cr while Mohammed Siraj managed to get Rs 12.25 cr from GT. Nine players were bought for a price over Rs 10 cr but lesser than Rs 12 cr.
