IPL 2025 Auction Day 1: Franchises spend Rs 467.95 Cr for 72 players, Rishabh Pant most expensive

Indian players stole the show with Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer bagging the most money on Day 1.

IPL 2025 auction Day 1: Out of 577 players on the short list, only 72 players were sold. However, out of Rs 641. 5 Cr, teams already spent Rs 467.95 Cr on Day 1, leaving just Rs 173.55 Crore on the table for 132 players on Day 2. On Day 1, Indians were the top picks. Lucknow Super Giants broke the bank, splashing Rs 27 Crore for Rishabh Pant. Minutes before that, Punjab Kings bagged Shreyas Iyer for Rs 26.75 Cr. Kolkata Knight Riders made Venkatesh Iyer the third most expensive player at Rs 23.75 Cr.

Punjab Kings who came to the auction with Rs 110.5 Cr spent the most. They splashed 88.0 Cr for 10 players. Royal Challengers Bengaluru are left with the most purse on Day 2 with 30.65 Cr. Sunrisers Hyderabad will be a mute spectator on Day 2 as they are left with just Rs 5.15 Cr.
