Akash Deep has completed his recovery. Having injured his back during the penultimate Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the pacer has been at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for over a month. It’s only now that NCA has cleared him. But he won’t start bowling again until the next week.
Akash Deep preparing for IPL 2025
Not part of the India cricket team’s ODI plans, Akash Deep will focus on the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. One of his biggest aims is to make it to India’s Test Tour of England, but that’s far away. Right now, the pacer will look to be at his best for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Having done well at home against New Zealand and then in Australia, Akash will go into IPL 2025 with newfound confidence.
“The England tour is still quite far from now. So, till the middle half of the IPL, my focus will be primarily on white-ball cricket. Yes, obviously, I’ll be more confident and going in with a lot more ideas and trying to implement them in this IPL,” Akash Deep told The Telegraph.

Working on my skills, says Akash Deep
The pacer understands that to be successful in international cricket and the IPL, you have to continue to improve yourself. He’s looking to upskill himself at LSG under the guidance of Zaheer Khan.
“If they feel I can improve in a certain area and I too feel the same, I’ll of course interact… Because trying to learn too many things may make the entire matter complicated. It’s just about working on my skills. If I feel I need to learn a few small technical things, I’ll then speak to them,” Akash explained.
