In recent times, we have seen LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka consistently motivating the team, regardless of whether they win or lose. A similar gesture was witnessed once again after LSG’s defeat against Punjab Kings.
Speaking about the game, things did not go well for LSG as Punjab Kings completely decimated them in their own backyard.
The hosts struggled from the start and, at one point, were reeling at 39/3, with skipper Rishabh Pant also dismissed. However, Nicholas Pooran (44) and Ayush Badoni (41) provided some hope, helping LSG post a respectable total of 171. Despite this, Punjab made the chase look effortless, losing just two wickets and reaching the target with more than three overs to spare. Prabhsimran Singh’s explosive 69 off 34 balls set the tone, while Shreyas Iyer (52* off 30) and Nehal Wadhera (43* off 25) ensured a dominant eight-wicket win.
After the game, Sanjiv Goenka was seen giving the camp a pep talk, acknowledging the team’s effort and expressing confidence in their ability to recover.
LSG owner engages in animated chat with captain Rishabh Pant before pep talk
Mr. Sanjiv Goenka and his animated chats with LSG captains are certainly not a new thing. In the past, Goenka was seen conversing with KL Rahul about his captaincy after a humiliating defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Now, in their first home game of the Indian Premier League 2025, LSG suffered a tough loss. After the defeat, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was seen having an animated chat with captain Rishabh Pant. Later, he was spotted speaking to PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer with a smile on his face.
