Will Rs 20.50 Cr worth Pat Cummins warm Sunrisers Hyderabad bench?

With Aiden Markram a sure-shot starter, Sunrisers Hyderabad face Pat Cummins dilemma after paying Rs 20.50 Crore at IPL 2024 Auction.

Where does Pat Cummins fit in Sunrisers Hyderabad Playing XI for IPL 2024? Will SRH bench the Australian captain after picking him for whopping Rs 20.50 Cr? These are the two burning questions SRH fans have been asking. And there is no clear answer yet. Even former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull is unsure of Pat Cummins’ place unless he leads the side in place of Aiden Markram.

The problem is the combination. With Aiden Markram the leader, he already seals an overseas slot. And that creates a problem for the SRH team management. Now, SRH can only have three more foreigners. Of the three, either Heinrich Klaasen or Glenn Phillips will have to start as they are wicketkeepers.

The last two overseas slots are now up for grabs with Pat Cummins, Marco Jansen, Wanindu Hasaranga and Travis Head fighting.

Pat Cummins new captain?

If Pat Cummins does not have an assured place in the side, why did SRH pick the Australian pacer? Will he lead the side? Simon Doull questioned the motive.

“Maybe they are looking for a captain. We have joked a little bit about it. Does Aiden Markram play every game now? They haven’t announced their skipper. Does Pat Cummins take over that franchise? Does he come in and play a lot more instead of a Marco Jansen next year for them?” Simon Doull questioned.

With Sunrisers Hyderabad not announcing Aiden Markram as their captain for IPL 2024 yet, Simon Doull questioned if SRH plan to announce Pat Cummins as the new skipper.

“That’s going to be the question mark. Now that you have paid all this money, you have got to get him into that team. Where does he start and whose place does he take? They have got a lot of high-quality overseas talent,” Doull said..
