IPL 2024: Virat Kohli elated to catch up with MS Dhoni once again before intense battle in Chepauk

Kohli will look to better RCB's record at the Chepauk Stadium, where they only won a single match in all these years.

Before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 opening match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday, March 22 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Virat Kohli was overjoyed to catch up with MS Dhoni.

Kohli will look to better RCB’s record at the Chepauk Stadium, where they only won a single match in all these years. Kohli hasn’t had much of a success in Chennai’s home stadium either, with the Indian batter averaging just 30 at the ground.

However, a set team will provide an advantage to RCB this time around especially with a new skipper at CSK’s helm.

In 2008, Kohli began his international career under Dhoni’s tutelage. Over time, Kohli gained a great deal of respect for Dhoni for assisting in his development as a batter and captain. The two have shared a great bond between themselves, and will look to continue that in IPL 2024.

Playing against Chennai is obviously always a special occasion, a big game, and the southern derby as they call it,” Kohli told RCB Bold Diaries before the opening game.

It’s nice to play in front of very passionate Chennai fans. And good to catch up with MS, it’s been a while,” he added.
