IPL 2024: Three potential replacements of Adam Zampa at Rajasthan Royals

Losing crucial players close to a big tournament is a problem for any team, be it for franchises or national teams. However, Rajasthan Royals can get themselves some good replacements to deal in Zampa's absence.

Indian Premier League club Rajasthan Royals on Thursday were dealt a serious blow when Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa pulled of the IPL 2024 due to ‘personal reasons’. Losing crucial players close to a big tournament is a problem for any team, be it for franchises or national teams. However, Rajasthan Royals can get themselves some good replacements to deal in Zampa’s absence. Here are a few players that can replace the Aussie leg-spinner.

Adil Rashid: Adil Rashid can be a good like-for-like replacement for Adam Zampa for Rajasthan Royals. England leg-spinner Rashid played the 2023 Indian Premier League for Sunrisers Hyderabad but went unsold at the IPL 2024 mini auction. He registered in the auction at a base price of INR 2 crore, but no team showed interest in him. With Zampa pulling out of IPL, this might just be the chance for Adil to enter the fray.

Ashton Agar: Another unsold player at the IPL 2024 auction, Ashton Agar can be a potential game changer for Rajasthan Royals. With Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal in their ranks, the team is pretty set in the spin bowling department. What Agar brings to the table other than his left-arm orthodox spin is his ability to bat down the order.

Ish Sodhi: New Zealand leg-spinner Ish Sodhi might just be what Rajasthan Royals need in place of Adam Zampa. Sodhi was unsold at the IPL 2024 mini auction but has plenty of experience in T20 Cricket, having played 111 T20Is for the Kiwis. Although he has an higher economy rate of over 8 T20Is, his average of just over 23 proves that he can take wickets at regular intervals.
