Chennai Super Kings (CSK) great Ambati Rayudu has sparked a sensation by claiming “temples of MS Dhoni” would be built in Chennai in the years to come. This bold statement comes after CSK’s crucial victory against Rajasthan Royals (RR), keeping their IPL 2024 playoff hopes alive.

CSK triumphs in low-scoring encounter

The win at the MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk) was a low-scoring affair, but significant for CSK’s playoff aspirations. Notably, MS Dhoni did not bat, but still managed to connect with the passionate Chennai crowd.

Similar to last year, MS Dhoni used a tennis racquet to launch signed balls into the stands, a gesture that always delights his fans.

Ambati Rayudu Remark: MS Dhoni Legacy

It was Ambati Rayudu‘s post-match comments that truly stole the show. He declared Dhoni the “God of Chennai,” prophesizing that temples would be built in his honor for the immense joy he has brought to the city. Rayudu’s praise extended beyond Dhoni’s on-field achievements, highlighting his leadership qualities and unwavering belief in his players.

He is the God of Chennai and I am sure, temples of MS Dhoni would be built in the years to come in Chennai,” Ambati Rayudu said on Star Sports.

He is someone who brought India the joy of two World Cups and has brought Chennai joy with a lot of IPL and Champions League titles. He has just been that one guy who shows belief in his players, who has always done it for the team, for the country and for CSK.“He is a legend and someone everybody celebrates in the crowd. They might be thinking that this might be his last game in Chennai,” he added.

MS Dhoni uncertain future: Farewell at Chepauk?

With rumors swirling about Dhoni’s potential retirement from the IPL, the RR match could be his last appearance at Chepauk. CSK’s final league stage match is against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 18th.

Whether Dhoni decides to call it a quits or not, Rayudu’s words paint a clear picture – MS Dhoni’s legacy in Chennai transcends cricket, solidifying him as a beloved icon in the city.
