After all that Sri Lanka leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga went through in the last few days, the commencement of his IPL 2024 campaign for Sunrisers Hyderabad, might just be delayed by a few days. As per a report in ESPNCricinfo, Hasaranga would be out for at least a week due to chronic pain in his left heel.
While the Lankan played the series against Bangladesh this month, he played in considerable pain, the report suggested. The SLC doctors have recommended Hasaranga to seek another medical opinion, for which he is expected to be out of the country next week.
When Will Hasaranga Join SRH?
There is still no clarity as to when will he join the SRH squad, and will miss their next match against Mumbai Indians. It looks like the realistic target for him would be to be fit for the T20 World Cup, where he would be leading the side. Meanwhile, he had an incredible 2022 season for the RCB, where he picked up 26 wickets at an economy rate of 7.54.
At the 2024 IPL Auctions, he was bagged for INR 1.5 Cr by the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
