IPL 2024: Rishabh Pant returns to practice after 662-day hiatus, DC share pictures

Delhi Capitals will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign on March 23rd with an away match against the Punjab Kings in Mohali

Delhi Capitals skipper and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is all set to make his much-anticipated return to cricket. Pant, endured a devastating car accident in December 2022, necessitating an extensive rehabilitation period. Following a thorough medical assessment by the BCCI, Pant has been deemed fit to resume his cricketing endeavours.

As Pant gears up for his comeback, the Delhi Capitals shared a glimpse of his return, capturing him practising in the team jersey after a hiatus of ‘662 days,’ encompassing the entirety of IPL 2023.

Initial speculations hinted at Pant’s limited role, possibly restricting him to batting alone. However, Pant’s unwavering dedication and intensive training regimen have enabled him to pass the BCCI’s fitness criteria, allowing him to feature as both a wicketkeeper and a batsman.

Delhi Capitals celebrated Pant’s return with an elegant video, underscoring the significance of this development.

Pant’s resurgence not only bolsters the Delhi Capitals’ prospects but also fuels optimism regarding his potential inclusion in the Indian Cricket Team for the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup in North America. Pant’s performance in the IPL will serve as a pivotal factor in determining his place in the national squad, with hopes high for him to continue his stellar form.
