IPL 2024: Rishabh Pant ‘jittery, nervous & excited’ ahead of first match in 14 months

Pant last played an IPL match on May 21, 2022. Since then, he's suffered a career-threatening injury, undergone surgeries, and spent several months in rehabilitation.

Rishabh Pant has butterflies in his stomach before his first match in 14 months. Having suffered a life-altering injury in December 2022, the wicketkeeper batter is all set to return in the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match on March 23. Returning to cricket after being out for so long, and that too as the Capitals’ skipper, won’t be an easy task.

Talking about feeling nervous before DC’s season opener, he said:

“Jittery, nervous, excited…all of it, but at the same time, just happy, being able to come back to professional cricket. I’m just looking forward to playing my first game tomorrow.”

Expressing his happiness on taking the field once again and enjoying every moment, Rishabh Pant said:

“Every time I take the field, it’s a different feeling altogether. I just wanted to bat as much as I could and get better every day. I don’t think much ahead, I take one day at a time, and give my 100%.”

On his talks with the management and teammates about their strategies and tactics for the IPL 2024 season, the wicketkeeper batter said:

“Most of the conversations are pretty simple. We just want to go out there, have fun, not complicate things and give our 100% in all the games.”
