Rashid Khan is set to return to action after a long break following his injury. The Afghanistan skipper has been out of action after the ODI World Cup. He underwent the knife and went on to miss action for a couple of months. And now, a fully fit Rashid is set to be back in action against Ireland.
Afghanistan is slated to take on Ireland for a three match T20I series during mid March. The Afghans will be boosted by the return of their skipper. Not just this series, it is good news for the team ahead of two big tournaments – IPL and then the ICC T20 World Cup.
“The plan is to represent the country in the upcoming series (T20 against Afghanistan) and the training has been underway and today was the second day and thankfully it went well and I hope that the following few days will also be well so that I can wear the national jersey again and continue to do well for my country,” Rashid Khan told AFG Board ahead of his return.
Focus On IPL
Rashid Khan has made it clear that IPL 2024 will be a good preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup. While Rashid Khan makes his return against Ireland, it will be great for the star spinner who returns after a long break of 3 months.
“The focus is always playing good cricket and doing well and we have played enough against Ireland and we hope to do well and perform well because it’s a great preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup and so the focus is on making the most out of it and preparing well for that event,” Khan added.
“The good thing is most of our players will be playing IPL and it will be good preparation for the World Cup and we will also keep in touch with those who are not there (in the IPL) to continue working hard in this period,” he concluded.
