IPL 2024: ‘No Impact’ from impact substitute KL Rahul in the LSG vs PBKS match

Rahul had faced heavy criticism after his 58-run off 44 balls knock in the last match cost the Lucknow Super Giants the match.

KL Rahul’s ‘no impact’ tag isn’t going away from him any time soon. After coming in as an impact substitute in the LSG vs PBKS match, the batter once again failed to leave an impact. Despite being given life by Harshal Patel, who dropped the star opener at deep square leg, Rahul managed to score just 15 runs off 9 balls.

Having earlier handed the captaincy of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to Nicholas Pooran, the star batter decided to open the inning after LSG won the toss and elected to bat first. But, as has been the case for a while now, his performances haven’t contributed to his team’s success.

Impactless KL Rahul

Since 2018, the KL Rahul hasn’t struck the ball at over 140. Opening the inning for the Punjab Kings and now the Lucknow Super Giants, his aggressive intent has taken the backseat. His anchor approach has brought criticism, and even when he’s batted long, he’s struggled to close games out.
