With less than three weeks to go for IPL 2024, all teams have begun their pre-season preparations. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings are the first to begin their camp with captain MS Dhoni expected to join in this week. Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Mumbai Indians others will begin their camp next week. However, Sunrisers Hyderabad have a few fixes to make before the new season.
SRH captaincy dilemma
With Aiden Markram leading Sunrisers Eastern Cape to consecutive SA20 titles, he should get the backing to lead in IPL 2024, right? Not quite. Sunrisers Hyderabad had a poor last season under Markram’s captaincy. And he now has serious competition with Pat Cummins joining the team.
The Australian captain has led his side to World Test Championship and ODI World Cup. And that gives him more credibility to revive a struggling side.
Furthermore, Pat Cummins has a great rapport with SRH head coach Daniel Vettori who is also Australia’s spin bowling coach.
