IPL 2024: MI pace attack severly depleted as Madushanka ruled out after Behrendorff

Mumbai Indians struggle with pace attack ahead of GT vs MI clash as Dilshan Madushanka ruled out of IPL 2024 after Jason Behrendorff.

Mumbai Indians are in a similar space they were a year ago. After Jason Behrendorff, another pacer has ben ruled out. Dilshan Madushanka who suffered a hamstring injury will miss IPL 2024 entirely. MI have roped in South African pacer Kwena Maphaka who was a shining star in U19 World Cup. He was the player of the tournament.

MI paid Rs 4.6 Crore for Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka at the IPL 2024 Auction. Madushanka was on fire in World Cup 2023 bagging 21 wickets. However, he is out with a hamstring injury.

Lack of fire in pace department

And with Madushanka out, Mumbai Indians will have to completely rely on Jasprit Bumrah. Nuwan Thushara is another pacer to watch out for but he will have to win over his nerves as he will make debut in IPL 2024.

Akash Madhwal and Luke Wood are the two other options on the bench. MI are also without Suryakumar Yadav for the GT vs MI clash.

“We are awaiting updates on Suryakumar from the BCCI. We have always been under a cloud of fitness issues but we have a world-class medical team. We may lose one or two in terms of fitness but we have to move on as is sport,” MI head coach Mark Boucher said on Monday.
