Chennai police have apprehended 12 people for the illegal sale of IPL match tickets. 10 cases have been booked for black marketing of tickets for the CSK vs LSG match on April 23 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Fascinatingly, this can be related to former Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni.
MS Dhoni reason behind the illegal sale of CSK tickets
Dhoni, who earlier handed the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad, may as well be playing his last IPL season. Due to this, fans are flocking in huge numbers to see the legendary wicketkeeper batter for the last time in action and are willing to pay obscene amounts of money for it.
For the upcoming clash between the Punjab Kings and the Chennai Super Kings on May 5 in Dharamshala, the cheapest ticket is priced at a whopping Rs 7500. This is an incredible increase from Punjab’s previous cheapest ticket of Rs 1200.
The Chennai Police seized 56 tickets worth Rs 1.4 lakh from the 12 people arrested. This isn’t the first time black marketing of IPL tickets has happened and probably won’t be the last, but the craze for Dhoni could be the big reason behind it.
