MS Dhoni effect! PBKS vs CSK match cheapest ticket priced at Rs 7500

The last IPL match Dhoni played at the Dharamshala was in 2012. Back then, he was still the Chennai Super Kings captain, and the Punjab Kings were known as the Kings XI Punjab.

Not the Mandela or Streisand effect, but witness the MS Dhoni effect. The legendary wicketkeeper batter will feature in the upcoming PBKS vs CSK match in Dharamshala. Knowing that Thala will come to the HPCA Stadium, the prices for the highly anticipated match have increased.

The MS Dhoni effect

The HPCA Stadium is acting as the Punjab Kings‘ second home in the IPL 2024. After playing their first five home fixtures in Mullanpur, the Kings will play the remaining two in Dharamshala. Knowing that Dhoni will be playing in the match on May 5, the cheapest ticket has been priced at Rs 7500.

The egregious amount is Rs 6300 more than the previous cheapest ticket for Punjab Kings home matches. For their matches in Mullanpur, PBKS were charging just Rs 1200 for the cheapest ticket, while the most expensive tickets were priced at Rs 3000. That means the cheapest ticket for the PBKS vs CSK is 2.5 times more expensive than the most costly one in Mullanpur.

Dhoni to return to Dharamshala after 7 years

The last time MS Dhoni played at the HPCA Stadium was in 2017. The wicketkeeper batter was still an active international cricketer back then and had even scored 65 runs in the encounter against Sri Lanka. The last T20I he played here came in 2015 against New Zealand, and he scored 20(12).

However, the last IPL match he played here was in 2012. He couldn’t fire on that occasion, scoring a scratchy 6(16) as the Chennai Super Kings lost by 6 wickets to the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings).
