MI vs KKR Highlights: Starc finally comes good, Venky outdoes SKY as Bumrah heroics go in vain

A cracker of a match that unfortunately fizzled out in the penultimate over of the match. Luckily for Kolkata, they survived an early collapse, while Mumbai lost their fourth consecutive game.

MI vs KKR Highlights: A rare low-scoring thriller in IPL 2024. If you can call 314 runs scored in a match that, But seeing batters struggle looked like a breath of fresh air. Who would have thought that before the IPL started, fans would be wishing for teams to score less? But here we stand.

Starc roars back

After a poor show, Mitchell Starc has stormed back into form. The left-arm pacer, who had fetched a record-breaking Rs 24.5 crore at the IPL 2024 auction, hadn’t done anything significant so far, but today he showed why he’s rated so heavy. With the possibility of the Mumbai Indians stealing away a win, he claimed the last three wickets and handed KKR an important 24-run victory that has seen them go up to 14 points and virtually seal their playoff spot.

Jasprit Bumrah stands apart

There’s Bumrah, and then there’s the rest. The fast bowler who snatched the purple cap back from T Natarajan following his masterclass at the Wankhede Stadium. The unorthodox ended up with the best figures by any bowler, taking 3 wickets for just 18 in 3.5 overs. He claimed the wicket of Venkatesh Iyer, the highest scorer of the match, and then cleaned up the tail.

Venky, the difference between the two sides?

Venkatesh Iyer not only top-scored in the MI vs KKR match but also rescued his team from the danger of collapse. At 57/5, the game looked done. But Venkatesh put his hand up and scored a blazing 70 off 52 balls. He was helped by Manish Pandey, who fell short of a fifty himself, but Venky remained till the end and was the final batter on his side to get out on the penultimate delivery.

Surya continues to impress

After three low scores, Suryakumar Yadav has scored a third fifty of the season. The 360-degree batter, who’s been in and out of form, was at his best today. Under immense pressure, he scored 56 from just 35 balls, while the next best batter in the Mumbai Indians line-up had scored 24. Although MI may have virtually been knocked out, his form bodes well for the Indian cricket team.
