Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have suffered a blow as pacer Matheesha Pathirana is set to miss the initial stage of IPL 2024. The pacer sustained a hamstring injury during the 2nd T20I against Bangladesh in Sylhet. CSK will kick-off their IPL 2024 campaign by facing off against RCB on March 22 in Chennai.
Pathirana blow for CSK!
As per ESPNCricinfo, the pacer will only join CSK only after he receives a no-objection certificate from the Sri Lanka Cricket.
“He is one of our premier bowlers,” a senior CSK official had told TOI earlier, highlighting the significance of Pathirana’s absence.
His ability to take wickets in the crucial death overs was a key factor in CSK’s success last year. This early-season blow leaves a gap in the team’s bowling attack.
