IPL team Lucknow Super Giants have signed former Australia batsman Adam Voges as their consultant for IPL 2024. “He and I have a long association together through Western Australia cricket and Perth Scorchers. He himself is a very successful head coach,” Justin Langer, Super Giants’ head coach, said of Voges’ appointment, quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.
“When I was the coach there [at Western Australia], he was the captain. He took over from me and has done a phenomenal job in West Australian cricket. So, to have him involved with LSG is a great bonus for all of us. He is an outstanding person and an excellent coach. He will bring in so much. We are very thrilled to have him involved.”
Voges himself had played in the IPL, way back in 2010 for the Rajasthan Royals. In a short career for Australia, he ended up playing 20 Tests, 31 ODIs and seven T20Is for his country, and made his Test debut at 35.
Prior to this, South Africa all-rounder Lance Klusener had joined the LSG as the assistant coach, for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, LSG have a strong support staff. The side has S Sriram as assistant coach, Morne Morkel and the fast bowling coach, Pravin Tambe as spin consultant, Jonty Rhodes as fielding coach and MSK Prasad as strategic consultant.
