After missing the second half of the IPL 2023, KL Rahul is taking no chance in preparing for the upcoming 2024 season. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper is currently under rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru after suffering a quadriceps injury in late January.
The right-handed batter has missed four Test matches since then and even traveled to London to consult a specialist. Having last played a T20 in May last year, the wicketkeeper batter is looking to be match-fit before LSG‘s season opener against the Rajasthan Royals on March 24.
Will KL Rahul move down the order to make a comeback in the T20 World Cup 2024?
Having been out of the T20I side ever since the end of India’s T20 World Cup 2022 campaign. Often criticized for his slower strike rate, the batter now has to fight against Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Rohit Sharma if he wants to make his way back.
Considering that Rishabh Pant’s fitness is uncertain and Jitesh Sharma is yet to make his mark, KL Rahul might look to move down the order during the IPL 2024 season and helm the role of a finisher.
The supremely talented batter has already found success in Test and ODI cricket by batting at the No. 5 spot and might look to replicate that this season for the Lucknow Super Giants.
