Mayank Yadav made a memorable debut in the epic LSG vs PBKS IPL 2024 clash. In his second over, Mayank bowled the fastest ball of the tournament, reaching an impressive speed of 155.8 kilometres per hour.
This achievement was particularly significant for the young player, who has faced injury setbacks over the past year. Mayank’s exceptional start to his IPL journey was highlighted not only by his record-breaking delivery but also by his overall performance with the ball. He managed to claim three wickets, disrupting Punjab’s pursuit of a 200-run target in the second innings.
“This is my third reason. I didn’t get a chance in my first season and was injured the last season, so I waThe pace is my natural thing. My focus was always on the consistency. The moment I entered I knew I belonged there. As I took my first delivery I knew this was the moment and I had to make the best of it.” said Mayank speaking to the IPL website
“My father inspired me to do this fast bowling. I think my inspiration and motivation is to be like Jasprit Bumrah, He is the best fast bowler in the world and I will try to be more like him. ” he added.
The 21-year-old left an impression on experienced batsman Jonny Bairstow with his sheer pace. Bairstow struggled to connect bat to ball against the talented Indian pacer, visibly flustered by the challenge. Mayank later revealed that dismissing Bairstow was his favourite moment of the match.
Despite initially envisioning making his debut at a younger age, Mayank expressed satisfaction with his performance. “My favourite wicket was my first one, Jonny Bairstow. I had aimed to debut at a younger age, but I’m content with my performance tonight,” Mayank reflected.“
