IPL 2024: Jos Buttler & Co likely to miss playoff stage as England grant conditional NOC for PAK vs ENG T20 series & T20 World Cup 2024.

Star England cricketers are likely to miss the playoff stage of IPL 2024. There were indications that England players might not be available for the full duration of Indian Premier League. And now, England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has only granted them a conditional NOC. England will take on Pakistan in a four-match T20 series starting May 22. BCCI is expected to complete the IPL 2024 by May 26 as T20 World Cup 2024 starts on June 4.

Apart from the big names, players like Harry Brook, Chris Woakes, Tymal Mills, Chris Jordan and Adil Rashid are back at the IPL 2024 auction pool. And franchises may be hesitant in picking English players.

“ECB is prepared to make their players available for the duration of the Tournament, subject to fitness and international duty, and any periods of unavailability that players submitted on their auction applications. ECB are still in the process of finalising their schedule for the World T20 in June and if any individual players require specific management in the build-up to the World T20, Rob Key will liaise directly with the player and his franchise to make the necessary arrangements,” BCCI informed franchises about availability of England players as per Cricbuzz.

Punjab Kings will suffer the most. Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran are all likely to play in the PAK vs ENG series. Therefore, they could be withdrawn from last week of IPL 2024.
