Gavaskar was seen talking about the first time he met Dhoni in an interaction. The video was released by Star Sports on Thursday morning. In the interaction, Gavaskar claimed that he became a fan of Dhoni when he saw him playing for the first time.

Gavaskar has been an admirer of Dhoni for a long time and he has made no attempt to keep his admiration towards the former Indian skipper a secret.

I became a fan of MS Dhoni when I saw him play for the first time. Fans want to meet their hero, have a chat with them, take their autograph or click a picture with them. When I met him for the first time, I saw that Dhoni was doing a lap of honour around the Chepauk Stadium to thank the fans for their support. He is a fantastic role model and carries himself very well. I approached him to sign my shirt which he did. That shirt is still proudly kept at my house,” Gavaskar was heard saying in the video released by Star Sports.
