IPL 2024 Highlights: Bishnoi’s screamer, Bumrah’s 150th scalp & Romario’s MI debut to remember

Mumbai Indians and the Lucknow Super Giants emerged victorious, while the Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans.

IPL 2024 Highlights: The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) winning train isn’t stopping, and the Mumbai Indians (MI) have gotten their first win of the IPL 2024 season. Despite not having Mayank Yadav, LSG still managed to win by 33 runs and moved to the third spot on the IPL 2024 points table. Meanwhile, MI moved to the eighth spot after Romario Shepherd’s scintillating hitting and Jasprit Bumrah’s magical spell.

150 wickets in the bag for Jasprit Bumrah

In a game where 439 runs were scored in 40 overs and the match run rate was 11, Jasprit Bumrah gave away just 22 runs in 4 overs. Not only that, but he claimed two wickets for Abhishek Porel and Delhi Capitals’ highest run-scorer of the match, Prithvi Shaw. The unorthodox pacer also becomes just the second Mumbai Indians pacer to take 150 wickets in the IPL. Reaching the milestone in his 124th match, he also becomes the third-quickest to do so.

Air Bishnoi

In the 8th over of the second inning, Ravi Bishnoi deceived Kane Williamson. The spinner bowled a googly; Williamson went cover to drive the ball but managed to get an inside edge and spooned the ball back towards Bishnoi. With the ball going to his right, the spinner threw himself at the ball and plucked the ball from the air to complete the flying catch. The ball had reached Bishnoi in just 0.60 seconds, but the spinner did not blink once and was in the air for 0.52 seconds.

Romario Shepherd singlehandedly down MI

Power is synonymous with West Indian players. That power was on full display in the MI vs DC match. Romario Shepherd smashed 39 off 10 balls with a strike rate of 390, the highest by a batter who has faced 10 or more balls in the history of the IPL. His inning included a 32-run over, the second-most runs scored in the final over of an inning. The all-rounder hit Anrich Nortje all over the park, hitting 3 fours and 4 sixes.

Strong Stoinis makes Gujarat pay

Although Yash Thakur took all the praise for his maiden five-wicket haul, it was Marcus Stoinis who provided the Lucknow Super Giants with the platform they needed. The Australian all-rounder was the only half-centurion in the match and scored 58 off 43 balls.
