The Indian Premier League (IPL) is upon us. With just a day remaining for the IPL 2024 Auction, the BCCI held a meeting with the franchise teams to discuss some crucial details about the tournament. IPL 2024 holds huge importance not only for the Indian Cricket Team but also for others with the main focus being on the 2024 T20 World Cup.
As per reports by Cricbuzz, the players from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, and the white ball specialists of Sri Lanka will be available for the entirety of the IPL 2024.
Main Focus on T20 World Cup
The cricket boards that have given conditional approvals to their players include the likes of England, Ireland, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. For example, England has given their condition. Players can participate fully in the IPL if they are not injured or doesn’t have international match commitments.
The BCCI told the other teams regarding the status of the English players “ECB is prepared to make their players available for the duration of the Tournament, subject to fitness and international duty, and any periods of unavailability that players submitted on their auction applications. ECB are still in the process of finalising their schedule for the World T20 in June and if any individual players require specific management in the build-up to the World T20, Rob Key will liaise directly with the player and his franchise to make the necessary arrangements.”
The main focus being the T20 World Cup, ECB’s summer international program is yet to be finalised. It remains to be seen as to which players become available wholly for IPL 2024.
For Australia, only Josh Hazelwood would be the player who won’t be available for the entire duration of IPL 2024. The ace pacer will be in Australia for the birth of his child and is expected to join IPL back in the last segment of the tournament, back in May.
