Is Rohit Sharma set to leave the Mumbai Indians and lead the Punjab Kings next season? The 5-time IPL-winning captain has been with the MI since 2010 and is undoubtedly their biggest asset since their creation in 2008. However, news was swirling about his joining the Punjab Kings as their skipper in IPL 2025.
Preity Zinta ‘wants’ Rohit Sharma on her team
According to some news publications, PBKS co-owner Preity Zinta expressed the desire to have Rohit Sharma on her side for the upcoming season.
“I will bet my life to get Rohit Sharma if he comes in the mega auction. We are only missing a captain in our team who brings on some stability and champion mindset,” Zinta allegedly said after the Punjab Kings lost to the Rajasthan Royals on April 13.

Zinta bashes ‘fake’ news
The Punjab Kings co-owner responded to the news, claiming that all these articles being posted online are baseless and fake. She never made any such comments after the match. He stated that she holds Rohit Sharma in high regard but hasn’t discussed anything with him.
“I hold Rohit Sharma in very high regard & am a big fan of his, but I have NEVER DISCUSSED him in any interview nor made this STATEMENT ! I also have a lot of respect for Shikhar Dhawan & he being currently injured, makes these articles appear in very poor taste,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter)
