Every spectator at the Eden Gardens got their money’s worth and was treated to an all-time run-chase by the Punjab Kings (PBKS). They etched their names in cricket history on Friday, pulling off a record-breaking feat. PBKS put on an unprecedented performance, completing a heist against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Chasing a monumental target of 262 at the Eden Gardens, the Kings produced a masterful batting performance to rewrite the record books in T20 cricket. Jonny Bairstow (108*) led the charge with a blistering century, while cameos from Prabhsimran Singh (54) and Shashank Singh (68*) provided crucial support. An absolute run-fest between KKR & PBKS
On a night where as many as 523 runs were scored, bowlers had no hiding place. The KKR would’ve felt hard to get done by after posting up 261/6 in the first innings. The visitors, however, set the night ablaze as they not only chased down the herculean total but did it with as many as eight balls to spare!
It all started with a blistering knock by Prabhsimran, who raced away to a superb fifty in just 18 balls. Due to this, PBKS put on 93/1 after their powerplay overs. Jonny Bairstow stood tall on the other side. The Englishman kept hitting lusty blows and was simply unstoppable. Bairstow ended up scoring a match-winning 108* off only 48 balls, striking eight fours and nine sixes in the process. Another spectacular knock was put up by none other than Shashank Singh, who raced away to a blazing 28-ball 68*.
