IPL 2024: Big blow to Gujarat Titans, Mohammed Shami likely to miss IPL with ankle surgery

Big blow for Gujarat Titans for IPL, star pacer Mohammed Shami likely to miss entire IPL with ankle surgery

Gujarat Titans have been dealt with a massive blow. Ace pacer Mohammed Shami has ruled out of IPL 2024. The speedster has been missing action after the ODI World Cup. Shami currently in UK will need a surgery and is expected to miss the entire IPL 2024.

“Shami was in London in last week of January to take special ankle injections and he was told that after three weeks, he can start light running and take it from thereon.

“But the injection hasn’t worked and now the only option left is surgery. He will shortly leave for UK for surgery. IPL seems out of question,” a senior BCCI source said on the condition of anonymity.

Now this is a massive blow not just for GT but also for the Indian Cricket Team. Shami will be out for a long time recovering from his injury. This means he will miss the T20 World Cup along with the series against Bangladesh and New Zealand. Reports claim he might be back for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in December.

Shami is currently in UK where he has been since December. The pacer was receiving treatment on his ankle. Shami had his left ankle swollen and received injections. But now as per latest developments, he will need surgery. This means he is likely to miss IPL for Gujarat Titans.
