Young pacer Spencer Johnson became another Australian millionaire at the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai on Tuesday. The 27-year-old sparked a bidding war between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Gujarat Titans (GT) before Delhi Capitals (DC) joined in. However, GT had the last laugh as the picked Johnson for a whopping 10 crore.
Who is Spencer Johnson?
The South Australian pacer rose to fame with a brilliant BBL stint with Brisbane Heat in January this year. Despite picking just nine wickets, the pacer was deemed as one of the breakout stars of the BBL.
After an impressive run for Oval Invincibles in The Hundred, Johnson received his maiden call up in the national side for the South Africa T20Is in August.
The 27-year-old then received his maiden ODI cap in IND vs AUS 2nd ODI in September. However, the pacer went for 61 runs in 8 overs and failed to claim any wicket.
