If the players remain unsold after the two-day auction ends, there is a good chance that they will get a chance to play in the Indian Premier League.
In the event of an injury or illness of any player on the IPL team, any unsold player from the pool can be contacted and ‘purchased’ by the IPL teams.
Finally, unsold players are also hired by teams to fill up practice teams for the main squad.
At the end of IPL 2021 auction, the total number of unsold players stood at 241.
