IPL 2024 auction: Shardul Thakur’s old CSK video resurfaces as all-rounder returns to Anbuden

Shardul Thakur made his return to CSK from KKR as the five-time champions bagged the all-rounder for Rs 4 cr at IPL 2024 Auction

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) shared a video of all-rounder Shardul Thakur donning the Yellow jersey shortly after he was picked by the 5-time champs in the IPL 2024 auction. The video is of an incident from earlier this year where Deepak Chahar and Thakur exchanged IPL jerseys. Shardul was bagged for Rs 4 cr by Dhoni & co as he marks his return to CSK after being with KKR earlier.

Shardul Thakur aims to turn over a new leaf in IPL 2024:

Shardul Thakur, with a desire to make a fresh start in IPL 2024, previously played four seasons with CSK from 2018 to 2021, contributing to two IPL title victories. Across 48 matches during this period, he claimed 55 wickets at an average of 27.52, with his standout performance in 2021 where he took 21 wickets.

After being picked by Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL 2022 auction and later traded to KKR for the 2023 season, Thakur faced challenges in replicating his earlier success with the ball. In IPL 2022, he secured 15 wickets in 14 matches and had a commendable season with the bat, scoring 120 runs at a strike rate of 137.93. However, in 2023, he managed seven wickets and scored 113 runs (strike rate of 161.43) from 11 matches.
