November 30 marked the end of the player registration period, thus getting us ready for the mega IPL 2024 Auction. Of the 333 players, the majority (214) are Indians with 119 overseas. 77 spots will be available in the mini-auction.
On December 19, the IPL 2024 Auction will take place in Dubai. Making things more exciting there are some well-known Indian players available for grabs as well. At the maximum base price of Rs 2 crore, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, and Harshal Patel have enrolled themselves. All of them were recently released by their franchises ahead of the tournament.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) released Harshal Patel prior to the IPL 2024 mini-auction. In the 2023 auction, RCB paid a whopping ₹10.75 crore in order to get the seamer’s services. Harshal had a disappointing season in 2023, though, taking 14 wickets despite this high price tag. Nonetheless, Harshal had an amazing season in 2021 during his second stay with the RCB. In just 15 games, he took 32 wickets to win the Purple Cap.
Along with Patel, Kedar Jadhav has also been released from the RCB squad. Called midway last season as David Wiley’s replacement, Jadhav could not make the impact he had hoped for. However, with his stellar performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Maharastra, Jadhav looks prepared for his new stint.
Kolkata Knight Riders released all-rounder Shardul Thakur after a very mediocre 2023 season. The all-rounder scored just 113 runs and took seven wickets in 11 games he played. KKR had bought him for a staggering 10.75 crore at IPL 2023 auction.
